Metric, imperial, and everything in between — Alffi adapts to how you farm
Alffi targets English-speaking farming markets. The app supports both metric and imperial units, with some features still tied to Australian data sources.
| Country | Units | Weather/ETo | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Australia | Metric (default) | BOM integration | Full support |
| New Zealand | Metric | Manual entry | Supported |
| United Kingdom | Metric / Imperial | Manual entry | Supported |
| United States | Imperial (auto-detected) | Manual entry | Supported |
| Canada | Metric | Manual entry | Supported |
| Ireland | Metric | Manual entry | Supported |
The app includes a comprehensive unit conversion system with 10 unit categories. Units are automatically set based on your device locale on first launch, and can be customised per category in Settings → Unit of Measurement.
| System | Description |
|---|---|
| Metric | Default for metric-locale devices. All categories set to metric units. |
| Imperial | Default for US/UK-locale devices. All categories set to imperial units. |
| Hybrid | Mix and match units per category (e.g., hectares with pounds). |
| Category | Metric | Imperial |
|---|---|---|
| Distance (short) | metres (m) | feet (ft) |
| Distance (long) | kilometres (km) | miles |
| Area (small) | square metres (sq m) | square feet (sq ft) |
| Area (large) | hectares (HA) | acres |
| Speed | km/h | mph |
| Temperature | Celsius (°C) | Fahrenheit (°F) |
| Mass (small) | kilograms (Kg) | pounds (lbs) |
| Mass (large) | metric tonnes | short tons |
| Volume (small) | litres (Lt) | ounces (oz) |
| Volume (large) | megalitres (ML) | US gallons (gal) |
Currency display is partially locale-aware. Product pricing and the product wizard use your device locale (AUD, USD, GBP, etc.). Some legacy views still display AUD — these are being updated.
The app uses your device’s locale to determine the currency symbol and formatting for product costs, pricing, and financial summaries.
Date display currently uses the pattern dd-MMM-yyyy (e.g., 18-Jan-2026) across all regions. This format is consistent but not locale-sensitive — for example, US users see “18-Jan-2026” rather than “01/18/2026”.
Locale-aware date formatting is planned for a future release.
The irrigation scheduling system fetches evapotranspiration (ETo) data from Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) weather stations in Australia. Non-Australian users can enter ETo values manually in the irrigation scheduling wizard.
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Weather source | Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) — Australia only |
| ETo data | Australian weather stations (Tocal, Gatton, Roseworthy) |
| Station lookup | Australian coordinates only |
The enterprise setup includes an optional ABN (Australian Business Number) field. Non-Australian users can leave this blank or enter their local business identifier.
Product safety data — Withholding Periods (WHP), Export Slaughter Intervals (ESI), and Re-entry Periods — is user-entered, not linked to a specific regulatory database. Users in any country can enter their local requirements.
| Feature | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Units | Full support | Imperial auto-detected for US/UK; customisable per category |
| Currency | Mostly supported | Product pricing uses device locale; some legacy views show AUD |
| Weather/ETo | Manual entry | BOM unavailable outside Australia; enter ETo values manually |
| ABN field | Optional | Leave blank or enter local business ID |
| Date format | Hardcoded | Shows dd-MMM-yyyy regardless of locale |
| Language | English only | Australian English spelling (colour, fertiliser) |
| Chemical data | User-entered | Enter local WHP/ESI/re-entry values |
